On the Internet,Dean Hunt is known as the Buzz Marketing King but I prefer to call him the King of originality.The first time I heard of him was when Alex Sysoef of http://howtospoter.com mentioned his blog as one of the outstanding blogs online.I checked the blog out and I was deeply impressed. Since then,I have been following Dean’s activities online and last week,I was opportuned to interview him.This turns out to be my first major interview and I tell you,you will gain a lot from it.Just read on:

Q: Some people see you as a maverick while others see you as the Buzz marketing King, how do you earn your living on line?

I teach people how to create a website or blog that gets massive amounts of visitors, sales and profits… all without spending any money on promotion.

As well as teaching via my blog at www.deanhunt.com we have a members-only website at www.BuzzProfits.com that has all the secrets we cannot share on a public blog.
Q: Give us some specific details about your life?

I am 26 years old, I am from the UK, but have lived in Spain for the past 5 years… At age 17 I was training to be a pro golfer, but a knee injury meant that I turned to the Internet instead.

I travel the world and am also a speaker at major marketing and business events.

Oh, and I had my life sponsored for $1 million by www.constructzero.com this means that I wear an item of clothing with the Construct Zero logo at all events, videos, and promotional events etc.
Q: For how long have you been in this Internet money game?

Approx five years, but for the first three years it wasn’t for money, it was just a hobby.
Q: Just a number of years, one would have thought you had been in it for ages considering the buzz you have been able to generate in a short while. Now, how exactly did you get into Internet Business?

By accident really… I moved to Madrid (Spain) five years ago, andsoon realised that I was not going to get a job without speaking Spanish. So I turned to the Internet instead. I studied for many hours each day, and picked up a lot of very cool skills.

It really took off when I created my first blog.
Q: Who invented the Buzz Marketing concept?

Cavemen… perhaps even earlier.

Anything that is interesting, funny or shocking will create “Buzz”. If you get attention then people will talk about it, which means free promotion.
Q: What will you say is the difference between Buzz Marketing and Viral Marketing?

Buzz is the cause, viral is the effect. For example, if I create a piece of remarkable content, that is buzz marketing.. but when people start spreading it via social media, emailing their friends etc… that is the viral aspect.
Q: So, what’s your biggest buzz so far?

There are too many to mention… the biggest in terms of quantity of visitors was probably the “Bizarre Google Request”, which was discussed in 18 languages and had over 245,000 UNIQUE visitors: http://deanhunt.com/bizzare-google-request/
Q: Do you think Buzz marketing will be relevant in 10 years time?

As long as people communicate, it will be relevant.

Q: Would you call yourself a Multi-millionaire? As in has Internet Business favored your bank account to that extent?

No, I am not a multi-millionaire. I am on-track to be a multi-millionaire before I turn 30 years old.
Q: How does a typical day in your life look like?

I work from home, so I wake up around 9am, grab a cup of coffee and hit the Internet. Often I will be wearing almost no clothes, which is one of the cool things about working from home

I work until lunch, then I play video games on the Xbox360 for 30 minutes, reply to all my email, write some content, perhaps do a webinar or work on an existing project… in the evening, I like to go to restaurants, party with friends and generally just relax.
Q: Some people see you clearly as funny considering all the stunts you pull, so, how do you get all those creative ideas, eg, that of the April 1 joke, the killer bunnies on your blog and your 6 billion rss readers?

I study creative thinking techniques. Many people think that you are born creative, but it is no true, creativity is a skill that anyone can learn. I teach it at www.buzzprofits.com
Q: What advice would you give to a new comer into Internet Business? Would you tell such a person it’s a smooth ride?

I would tell them that they will need to stand out from the crowd. Most people try and copy other people, but it doesn’t work like that, you need to stand out to get attention. That is why I have killer bunnies on my blog.

I would also tell them to be patient, despite what you hear, there is no such thing as overnight success.

If it seems like a “smooth ride” you are not doing it properly.
Q: Do you think new entrants into the Internet Business game have a chance of success considering the huge competition out there?

Yes, there is a lot of competition, but things have never been easier. There are so many tools like Twitter, Wordpress etc… that make things a lot easier than 10 years ago.
Q: Any step by step plan for such newbies, especially to those who have tried before and failed?

Yes, first, get a blog and an account on a social media account like Twitter, Facebook etc..

Q: Traffic, we all know is the life-blood of Internet Business, what advice do you have for Internet Entrepreneurs in this regard?

Content has to be interesting and informative in 2009.

10 years ago, it could be informative… but now there is too much competition, so you need to EDU-Tain… which is a blend of entertainment and education.

The best way to achieve this is to be passionate about your subject. In fact, why not make your first site about your favorite hobby?
Q: You mean you don’t believe in submitting articles to directories, networking at forums, etc

Those techniques can work, but they generall take a lot of time for a little reward. Networking can be useful in building relationships though.
Q: What would you do differently if you were starting your Internet Business all over again? 

I would create more products more quickly. I would also surround myself from day one with people that have ALREADY achieved success.
Q: What would you say is the single reason for your success?

There isnt one thing… but being able to learn creative thinking has been huge.
Q: Any mentors who have influenced you?

Tons. Barry Dunlop (he also writes for www.buzzprofits.com) Yanik Silver, Ryan Deiss, Perry Belcher, Mark Joyner… there are hundreds.
Q: Running an Internet Business gives you choices and freedom to do what you want, when you want. What would you say the Internet Lifestyle is for you?
The Internet Lifestyle to me = Freedom.

I can do what I want, when I want. If I want to play xbox, or travel the world, buy a new car, stay in bed all day… I can do any of these things… so freedom is a huge thing for me.
Q: What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

“You must value your time before anyone else will” and “Be yourself, everyone else is already taken”
